Join our weekly classes for kitchen skills that build one upon the other. Our curriculum is a three year curriculum that rotates through essential kitchen learning. We include math, science, reading and more to not only build confidence in the kitchen, but life skills as a part of our
learning process for students to try everything we make (with the exception of allergies) This helps build a well rounded pallet and helps kids expand the variety of foods.
Preschool:
join our small class size of no more than 6 kids for a hands on learning activity that includes singing and counting in Spanish as well as hands on food experience to build pallets and focus on hand strength and manipulation.
We follow directions and listen to the Chef as well as read stories and take turns.
It is a well rounded learning and growing activity!
Our recipes are based off of books we read in class and are posted each Thursday outside our class.
Kids who are capable of being away from parents (This is not a parents & me class) and have an attention span for a 10 page book.
A starter kit is required for all new students. It is a one time purchase. (Scroll to the bottom of our class selection to purchase the starter kit.)
Each student must have all three waivers completed and returned by email previous to the first day of class.
Please leave your students name, age and any food concerns in the "Note Box" at check out.

Advanced Class - "Black Apron Club"- BY INVITATION ONLY
Sold out
The Black Apron Club is an exclusive program designed for students who have attended at least one month of regular CCI classes. Under the guidance of Chef Arlena, this course selects students who demonstrate a strong understanding of cooking vocabulary, possess advanced skills beyond their age group, and are ready to tackle more precise, efficient, and complex kitchen techniques.
Unlike regular classes, the Black Apron Club is held at a different location and has limited enrollment. Each session lasts 90 minutes and can require a 8 week commitment as well as students need to purchase a black apron and a new notebook.
Invitations to join this advanced class are extended by Chef Arlena based on individual assessments, and spots are only made available upon acceptance of these invitations. As such, the class will always appear to have no availability.
Interested students or parents should contact Chef Arlena directly for further inquiries or information.
Contribution to scholarship for students
We frequently receive inquiries about how individuals can support our initiative to enhance food knowledge for future generations. We are always grateful for donations of cooking tools and equipment that benefit all our students. However, many have asked how we can offer classes to students who may not have the financial means to participate.
We truly appreciate this generosity and have been working on a solution. For every $40 donation, we will match it, enabling us to provide a full month of classes for a student who otherwise would not be able to attend.
If you would like to contribute towards a school event for elementary schools lacking the budget for a visiting chef or author, please indicate this in the "comment box" at checkout.
Quarter donations are also welcome and will remain in the account until another contribution is made. These combined donations will then be matched by Chef Arlena to fund one month of classes for a selected student.
Please note that summer camp donations are higher as they cover an entire week of cooking, food, crafts, and activities.
Once again, it is our utmost pleasure to match your donations and provide opportunities for community contribution.
If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please request an application at [email protected].
Private Lesson
Chef Arlena is happy to create a custom class for your jr. chef with just the skills, or recipe they would like to learn.
$65.00 per hour long lesson, for 1 or 2 students only.
Contact Chef Arlena to schedule a lesson before paying.
If you do not have a specific lesson we recommend our "Write My Own Cookbook" as a lesson guide.
If you are a new student you will need the starter kit and please leave the scheduled class information, students name and age, as well as any food concerns in the note box at check out.
